Description
PCE Lifting Tool
Technical Description and Specifications
The PCE Lifting Tool is designed to screw directly onto the Quick Union connections of lubricators, BOPs, or stuffing boxes. It transitions the heavy-duty threads of the PCE into a certified lifting eye or bail, ensuring that the equipment is suspended vertically and securely during rig-up and rig-down procedures.
Key Technical Specifications and Operation
Function: To provide a safe and balanced lifting point for individual PCE sections or the entire assembled stack. It eliminates the dangerous practice of using “slings and chokers” around the body of the lubricator.
Quick Union Integration: The bottom of the tool features a precision-machined Quick Union (male or female, e.g., Bowen or Otis style) that matches the rest of the inventory. This allows for rapid attachment and removal.
Vertical Alignment: By attaching to the very top of a section, the lifting tool ensures the equipment hangs perfectly vertical. This is critical for aligning connections and preventing “cross-threading” when mating sections together.
Safety Factor: These tools are engineered with high safety margins (typically 5:1) and are strictly load-tested. They are considered “below-the-hook” lifting devices and must carry valid certification.
Swivel Options: Some advanced models include an integrated swivel, allowing the lubricator section to be rotated easily by hand while suspended, making alignment with the wellhead much safer.
Customization and Materials
Material: Forged from high-tensile 4140 Alloy Steel and heat-treated for maximum toughness.
Lifting Eye Design: Available with a fixed “eye” hole or a “bale” (handle) style, depending on the type of crane hooks or shackles used on the rig.
Size Matching: Must be ordered to match the specific Quick Union size (e.g., 4-3/4″ – 4 Thd) to ensure a full-strength mechanical lock.
