Description
PCE Lubricator Dolly
Technical Description and Specifications
The PCE Lubricator Dolly is a rugged, low-profile transport aid designed to cradle the cylindrical body of a lubricator. It allows a single operator or a small crew to roll heavy pressure control sections from the transport skid to the wellhead area without the need for a forklift or crane for every minor adjustment.
Key Technical Specifications and Operation
Function: Provides a mobile support base for lubricators, preventing the equipment from being dragged across the rig floor (which damages the paint and can create sparks).
V-Block Support: The top of the dolly features a “V” shaped cradle, usually lined with non-sparking polyurethane or heavy-duty rubber. This centers the lubricator and prevents it from rolling off the dolly.
Heavy-Duty Casters: Equipped with industrial-grade, 360-degree swivel wheels. High-spec models feature locking brakes and “directional locks” to ensure the lubricator stays put once it reaches its destination.
Tandem Use: For long lubricator strings (20ft to 40ft), dollies are typically used in pairs—one at each end—to provide a stable “rolling chassis” for the equipment.
Safety & Ergonomics: By keeping the lubricator off the ground, the dolly reduces the risk of back injuries to the crew and protects the Quick Union threads from picking up dirt or debris from the floor.
Customization and Materials
Material: Constructed from welded structural steel or high-strength aluminum for a better strength-to-weight ratio.
Cradle Lining: Options for Brass or HDPE linings for specialized “non-sparking” zones (Zone 0/1) to ensure safety in gas-prone areas.
Adjustability: Some models feature adjustable widths to accommodate different lubricator diameters (from 2.5″ ID up to 6.375″ ID).
